NEW Scoil na míochaine luibhe

Online Foundation course in Herbal medicine   12 Monthly Modules
Enrolment  now.

The 12 months course is an introduction to herbal medicine and is based on my knowledge as a practitioner of western and of Chinese herbal medicine,TCM.

TCM gives an added insight to a very different perspective of how health and disease is viewed, and how diagnosis can be enhanced using a different approach.

The course is designed for the beginner and is a non professional course which enables people to treat minor complaints for family and friends. It does not qualify a person to set up in practice as a professional herbalist This requires further training.

Ss well as the 12 modules , 2 weekend workshops are included in the course material.

WORKSHOPS

There are two optional workshops in June, July but attendance is strongly

recommended. This is because they add a very practical dimension to the

theory given in each of the modules and enable you to become more

confident in two key areas - plant identification and plant

preparations. The seminars (week or weekend) are held in beautiful West

Cork, Ireland, overlooking Roaring water bay and the atlantic.

These workshops cover:

• the practical side of making herbal preparations in the home.

• the identification of herbs

• the harvesting of herbs according to their properties eg.digestive,

bitter etc

.making useful herbal preparations such as ..infused oils, balms and creams, oixmels, syrups. elixirs tinctures and more .

A 4  part course on a seasonal approach to treatment, which includes the study of herbs in season, practical preparations, tasting of the herbs and discussion of their actions and uses. As well we will discuss the application of the herbs to specific organs and how they enhance their action and heal them.

The courses will take place in the spring, summer, autumn and winter months.

Spring is associated with the liver, whose colour is green and taste is sour and bitter. The emotion is anger and the sound shouting

Summer is associated with the digestive system whose colour is yellow, its taste sweet. the emotion pensive and the sound singing .

Autumn is associated with the lungs, the colour is white ,the taste is metal and the emotion and sound is grief and crying.

The winter associated with the kidneys, the colour is blue or black, the taste is salty and the emotions fear and sound groaning.

This gives us a pattern of exploring herbs specific to the seasons and organs and how we apply them in health and illness , including foods in our diet  that are relevant or contraindicated.

The 4 courses are held in beautiful West

Cork, Ireland, overlooking Roaring water bay and the atlantic.
